Coming Of Age Final
Winter Season was coming up, scrolling down the list with multiple sports to choose from to represent Moanalua High School. All of the sports seemed really intriguing but I didn't know how to play any of them. Until I stumbled upon soccer. I have been playing soccer for about 10 years now and I thought it would be an honor to play Varsity level soccer for high school. Then it all started to crumble down.
"Boys Varsity Soccer Tryouts, boys varsity soccer tryouts will be held today after school. Be ready with your cleats , shinguards, and water. See you there!" That phrase on the morning bulletin was ringing in my head all day. Focused and determined to get a spot on the team. Practicing and conditioning for months now made me feel that I was in the best shape I ever was in and made me think I guaranteed had a spot on the team. Looking back at it today, made me look super cocky and arrogant.
As day one of three finished from tryouts I felt really good on my performance. My skill level was there and it was going well. When upperclassmen who made the team last year acknowledged me saying that I was one of the better ones of the group it boosted my self-asteam and my head rose so high. When day two came for tryouts, I wasn't worried in school no more. I thought I had it in the bag. I walked to the field with a high sense of swagger like I was a soccer legend right after the bell rang. I slacked off thinking I made the team already, walking through drills and fooling around. With the coaching knowing my name I thought that it was a good sign that he liked me.
Day three was finally here. Excited as ever and anxious for the school day to finish. He said that right after a light practice he will read the list of names who made the team. 1:45 came and I scurried out the room. Practice went on and it was a light scrimmage. With me executing passes and scoring a goal, I just wanted to finish and hear my named be called from the list. No more than 5 minutes passed and practice had ended. We all ran up the bleachers and waited for coach to come up and read the list. He said before he read the names that he was taking about 25 people. At that point I thought that my chances of making it was 25 of 25. After 20 names were called, I was anxious and telling my "teammates" here we go I am next! Then all of a sudden he stopped. I was so confused. I started asking everyone if they heard my name. "Congratulations to the boys who made it, if your name was not called than sorry we couldn't take you." I dashed into his office and said "Coach how come my name wasn't called?" "Shimo you had the talent and the skill level was all there, but your just to small."
Devastated and sobbing I rushed out the office, went home and cried my eyes out.
This experience affected me emotionally and physically because every time I would play soccer, I felt like I wasn't good enough. Skipping meals and not doing much set me back but I just had to let it go and learn from this. During the off-season for me while the soccer team was still playing, I would watch their games and learn the style of play and take notes on what I can improve so I can make the team this upcoming year. Working out and eating 4-5 meals a day made me stronger and made me maintain my weight and still manage to be in shape.
Being cut from the Varsity soccer team was definitely a horrible experience but a memorable on too. It was a set back yet a learning experience. Entering this upcoming year as a Sophomore I learned from my mistakes and gained knowledge on how to make the team. From being to "small" I grew 4 inches and gained weight to help me in tryouts. With family support, determination, perseverance, and staying humble you can achieve anything. Hopefully all goes well so I can represent Moanalua HIgh School and be on the Varsity Soccer Team.

It was the worst night ever but the most memorable. From being cut from the soccer team it was a wonderful example of being humble and grounded. You have to expect the unexpected. I thought for sure I had a spot on the team. But being cocky and arrogant lead me to believe way to much in my self. Since the incident I grew over 4 inches and been gaining weight and working out harder than ever. I stay humble and just keep on working. Entering this year as a sophomore, determined and not cocky, I am going to tryout again and hopefully all goes well. With family support, determination, and staying humble you can achieve anything.

Position Statement Mini Essay
3. Naturally, adults have a better understanding of the consequences of their actions. Also, these people should have known better than to do weird things in a place they didn't know properly. Your conscience should be able to keep you from straddling a blowhole.
Naturally, adults have a better understanding of the consequences of their actions. These people should have known better than to do dumb things in a place they are not aware and experts of. The government should not be responsible for what these people do, their conscience should be able to keep you away from straddling a blowhole.
The people who were involved in the accidents were obviously reckless and risk-takers. Unfortunitly the victims passed away, but they need to be more cautious of their surroundings. David Potts fell into a blowhole after dancing around it. At age 44 he should have made better decisions, especially because he was an adult. The only warning the site had provided was hand painted on a rock, however neither the Maui VIsitors Bureau and Maui County had promoted the area as an attraction. 18-year-old Daniel Dick straddled a blowhole, was lifted 3-5 feet, and landed head first onto a rocky crevice, which led to his death. Even though the warning sign was far from the actual site, some common sense would have been able to keep Daniel from doing what he did. Also what is he doing straddling a blowhole? Obviously its dangerous because water is going to blow out of the hole, so why even be near it? Even though there was lack of warnings in the both cases, the accidents could have been prevented if the two victims were cautious and had common sense.
Just because the government had not put up many warning signs for the blowholes, people should know better not to full around in a place they are not aware of. Since most of these victims were adults they should know better than anyone else. Why put your life in risk in a place you are so unfamiliar with? People need to be more cautious of the surroundings and make better decisions.

Revision Process
The changes I made to my blog was obviously my header and title. I named it the untold because people don't know that much about me and this year hopefully we get to do essays on ourselfs or our opinions. I also put a picture of a mouth taped because it shows how things were kept in. I used my skills and added the title on the design. I alo organized my archieve by putting it by the year then later seperated by months. I find that it will be easy to find old work and it will easily show when I completed it
